Thresholds
2025 -
ongoing series of fabric sculptures
Threshold has two meanings. The step before a door, a space one can cross; Here/There. It is also the point at which a certain intensity is reached; a needle in the red, the level where a reaction begins. I am as interested in my Thresholds being an invitation to cross into a space of poesis, as I am in them producing stage directions like 'enter' and 'exit', as I am in the people's personal thresholds of when they start to call fascism fascism; the Thresholds are about consequence. Textile is unruly. I love that it never hangs exactly the same way twice. I am a devotee of the visible stitch, how it traces the performance of labour across time.
